Claude Fable + Mythos 5 is BANNED!

Claude Fable 5, Fable 5 and Mythos 5 just got shut down, peeps. If you haven't seen this already, it's breaking news. And essentially what's happened here is that due to security situations, the US government has actually shut down and suspended access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside the United States or outside, including, and this is applicable to, Anthropic Employees, which is pretty wild right there. So what has happened is Claude have actually pulled Mythos 5 from their model list. So if you're using it previously, you shouldn't have access to it anymore if you're outside the US. So let me give you an example. Now, I seem to still have it when I go over here, which is strange. Let me just test if it works. That's going to be strange if it's not working, if it is working. Wow. It's still available, which is strange. So I don't really understand what's going on. But the official statements are that the US government directive has pulled it, has shut it down, as you can see right here. And basically, this means that they've abruptly disabled Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for everyone, which is pretty wild. So it seems, I mean, if you have a look here, they've not actually said that it's just applicable to certain people. They've said that they've disabled it for all users and people using Claude and Mythos Fable 5, which is pretty wild. So they received the notification at 5.21 p.m. And that is Eastern Time on June the 12th. Didn't provide any specific details of why, but this is pretty crazy. So they believe that the government has been aware of some people bypassing Fable 5. And they've reviewed demonstrations on this technique being used as well. So this is pretty wild. And yeah, so Star Wolf says, you know, wow, maybe someone figured out how to use it in another harness. Who knows what's going on? But that is, I mean, that's big. Like that, this doesn't happen every day. I mean, I know they had a situation similar to this earlier this year, but nothing really happened as a case of that. But this is the first time in history I have ever seen this happen. And that's big news. That is big, big news. I just opened up Twitter and AI Twitter is exploding with news about this and the effect of it and what's happening here. So what this essentially means is that for non-US people, they can't access Fable 5 or Mythos. But as a result of that, I think it's going to be like too hard for Claude to sort of monitor that and figure out, okay, who's US and who's non-US. And so they've just basically pulled it down for everyone, which is pretty wild. Now, they said they apologize for the disruption and they believe it's a misunderstanding and they're working to restore it as soon as possible. But right now, no one can use it. No one can use it according to the update. But again, if I go to Claude here, we still got access. So I don't know what's going on here, whether there's been a new announcement. Let's just have a look here. Is anything new just come out or what's going on here? And by the way, this was just announced one hour ago. You can see the announcement right here. One hour ago, this came out. So pretty, pretty crazy times there, peeps. Again, never seen that before. So let's have a look and see what they're announcing here. So they've said, Anthropic's posture with respect to Fable safeguards is the following. So they've added strong safeguards to Fable so that it can't be used for the wrong stuff. In the weeks leading up to this, Anthropic actually worked with the US and the UK. And multiple private third party organizations and internal teams to basically add those safeguards. And that took like thousands of hours in total work. They've also said these tests showed that Fable safeguards are substantially more effective than those of any previously deployed model. No testers have been able to find a way to bypass it yet. And they suspect that perfect resistance for this sort of stuff is not currently possible for any model provider. So basically what they're saying here is like, you know, you can't stop this stuff from happening. Some people will bypass it. And that's not possible. So that's why they adopted a different strategy with Fable 5. And they stand by that strategy. By the way, this is the first time I'm reading it. This is brand, brand, brand news. We're all learning together here. So sorry if I haven't explained it as well as I possibly could do. They have not even received a disclosure of a concerning situation as well, which is pretty interesting too. So literally all they've had is like verbal evidence of something happening, which means, which essentially consists of asking the model to read a code base and fix software flaws. And that one situation was shared with the US. But they've also reviewed a report that you can also do the same thing with GPT 5.5. So they're complying with the situation, removing access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all users. They don't agree with the finding, Anthropoc is saying. And also bear in mind, this is impacting hundreds of millions of people, right? This is a big, big thing. This is not just like a one-off. And they've already had a similar situation like that, but it wasn't the same. It wasn't like this. This is totally different. Let's see what's going on here. So it's also been removed for clawed devs, apparently. Again, let's just have a look here. Can I access Fable 5? So it is inside my models list here. We've got Fable 5, Fable 5 1 million context. I'm not going to use it, obviously, but you know, you could. I mean, to be honest, like if you wanted to use it, I was running out of tokens so fast. It was just like, you know, what's the point? What's the point? And there's lots of like, you know, there's obviously lots of people like showing up what they're built with it. Some interesting stuff. Let's see if there's any other news on this. This is interesting. Like, when are we going to get access to this again? You know, this might be the last time, the first and the last time we got to use Fable 5. It was great. I mean, to be honest with you, it wasn't great at UI. It wasn't great at designing UI. We created a bunch of stuff with it. So if we go over here, you can see some examples of what we've built with it inside the agent OS. And it was pretty cool. Like, it generated some nice stuff. But I mean, you can see here, it's not great at creating user interfaces and coding and stuff like that. Oh, there we are. I'm going to switch that to Opus 4.8. This is interesting. Has Claude added a new update where, like, the letters pop up like this instead? Yes, and Microsoft are implementing this as well. So they've restricted their team from using Claude 5. But that's temporary. They also end in Claude code licenses. By the way, Opus 4.8 is a big step backwards. If I say, like, can you research this? For me, it just focuses on the Microsoft aspect of it, which is not the most important part of this story. Bear in mind, this is Claude Mythos level as a model, right? So if you're using Fable 5, or you were using it before, it was Mythos level. But we couldn't get access to Mythos, which was restricted to only, like, you know, private companies inside Project Glasswing, essentially. And also, you can see here that they've said, if this standard was applied across the industry, this is what Anthropics are saying, it would essentially halt all new model developments and deployments for all frontier model providers. So their position is nuanced. They believe they should have, they believe, like, the US should be able to do this, but that this doesn't fit the right use case. Now, bear in mind, you can still access Opus 4.8. Again, I mean, just in this single test, you can see it's nowhere near as good. It feels like a huge step backwards if you're using Opus 4.8. Bear in mind, this is just breaking news. So who knows what's going to be announced next and what happened. I would watch out on this story and pay close attention to it.
