How to Run Hermes Agent OS on a VPS

Hermes on VPS, Hermes Desktop and Agent OS 7. Hey Joseph, alright so we're gonna get straight into this. Joseph says, hello I run Hermes on a VPS, I would like to understand how I have to set up the Agent OS on the VPS. Can I do this via Hermes Desktop thanks for your assistance. So if you want to use the Agent OS with Hermes VPS, you can literally just go into the agent that sets up the Agent OS for you and say hey I've got a VPS set up with Hermes, can you integrate that directly into the Agent OS. So I'll give you an example of this, we actually set up Hermes Cloud with Hermes Agent so you can see we've got Hermes Cloud here which is essentially a VPS. And so when we did that, when we set up Hermes Cloud for example with Hermes Agent, we just asked it hey can you set up Hermes Cloud, the VPS with the Agent OS. And you can do that with any agent that you prefer to use. So for example I did that inside a core desktop but it could be anything else. Now for connecting an Agent OS with multiple devices or let's say for example you've got the Agent OS set up on a VPS, you need to set up with multiple devices. You can use something called Tailscale, it takes about 10 minutes to set up and I'll include the link to the training for you. So Tailscale is a way of connecting multiple different devices to the same instance. So let's say for example you have the Agent OS on my Mac Studio and I wanted to connect that to my phone or to my iPad or whatever. Well I can use Tailscale and connect it to any device I prefer and it's only available to me. And basically what that does is it creates like a unique login where only my devices can access that one particular instance. Again we have the full tutorial here for you and I was surprised how easy it's set up. It's also free as well so you basically just have three layers for this. Like the station where your HNS runs, the wire which is Tailscale setting up a private HTTPS address and then the phone or whichever device you want to connect it to. And if you want to see exactly how to do that we've got a full breakdown right there. Can I do this via Hermes Desktop? So if you want to connect Hermes Desktop to a Hermes VPS you can. You would just use Hermes Cloud. Hermes Cloud is basically like a VPS news research have designed themselves so it's the official one for hosting a Hermes instance. And then you can connect that to your desktop pretty easily. So you got the full documentation on it right here. But yeah, basically you can connect that to Hermes Cloud. So if we go to Hermes here, this is Hermes Desktop. Bear in mind that Hermes Desktop is separate to the Agent OS so it's not the same thing. But you can easily set up Hermes Cloud with desktop. So you see if we go to manage gateways here. So what you do is you go inside Hermes Desktop like so manage gateways and then you select Hermes Cloud in your settings and just save and reconnect it here. And that's basically it. So just to recap, we've talked about how to use the Agent OS with a Hermes VPS. You basically just ask the agent that's set up for you to set up for using the Agent OS with multiple devices. You can use Tailscale. And then if you want to connect Hermes Desktop to a VPS, you can. The easiest way is just use Hermes Cloud. You can use other stuff like Hostinger, but I'd recommend Hermes Cloud for that because it's literally designed by Hermes Desktop, if that makes sense. For me personally, I still prefer to use the Agent OS over Hermes Cloud because, you know, with the Agent OS, it's specifically using all of your agents. Whereas, for example, Hermes Desktop is purely for Hermes, right? So it's quite limited. Whereas, for example, like, you know, Astra 6 just came out. We've already connected it inside the codec section and we've also added it inside the Hermes section here. So you can see GPS 6 Astra inside the dropdown there as well. So I think it's a lot more flexible to use an Agent OS and you can customize it and personalize it exactly how you want. So, for example, we have a look inside the Hermes section here.
